Camden Whole Health has an on site sauna that can be used as either a traditional or infrared sauna. Traditional saunas create heat and steam, warming the air. Infrared saunas heat the body using infrared panels.
Both types of sauna promote detoxification pathways in the body through sweating. Our skin is our largest organ of elimination by both weight and surface area. Through sweating we can release stored heavy metals (i.e. lead and mercury), volatile organic compounds, environmental toxins and other toxic substances stored in our fat cells and circulating in our blood.
Infrared saunas are utilized at a cooler temperature than traditional saunas. By heating the skin, it allows for deeper penetration and promotes 2-3 times more sweating.
Benefits of using a sauna include:
- Pain relief
- Weight loss
- Improved immune function
- Tissue healing
- Improved blood flow
*Please provide a note from your doctor recommending sauna treatment if you are currently being treated for a medical condition
