Art as Knowing: Creativity for Self and Soul
with Barbara Davis, LCSW, MFA
Friday, September 20th 9:30-11:30 AM
This creativity and healing workshop will focus on using creative processes to reduce stress and increase personal well-being.
Barbara will lead participants in various creative activities such as drawing, painting, sculpture or collage that encourage self-discovery, self-acceptance and healing. Participants will learn how to use art-making processes to express thoughts and feelings that they may not otherwise express.
While some people interpret images, Barbara’s focus is on the healing process of creating and engaging in the expressive arts. The meaning of the work is individual and only shared if the individual participant wishes to do so.
Barbara Davis received her BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MSW and MFA from Rutgers University. She is certified in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and has training in expressive arts therapy. Barbara works as a psychotherapist at Camden Whole Health, integrating mind-body medicine, wellness practices and art-making with psychodynamic psychotherapy.
No art experience is necessary. All art materials will be provided. Limited space is available so pre-registration is required. $25/person. Workshop will take place at Camden Whole Health, 91 Elm St, Camden, ME 04843.
